For me, careers counselling is all about helping students to discover the course, career, and life, they truly want.
My primary goal is to help students achieve that by supporting them, and their parents, at every step of the way, in every way I can.
That’s what I am all about, and I have done it with great success with over 2400 students during the last 10 years.
The four key pillars to student success:
Helping students to build belief and confidence in themselves and their abilities, and what they can contribute and achieve, really matters to me. I back students in and I believe in them. I have supported many students to achieve entry into courses and careers they didn’t believe or know were possible. This is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
I work closely with parents at every stage. Parents are invited to all of my meetings. I strongly believe that parents have a vital and constructive role in their child’s careers process.
There’s a LOT of talking at my meetings! We hold in-depth discussions on every aspect of the careers process. I especially want to learn about each student’s interests, perspectives and aspirations.
Course and careers selections, and the plans and actions necessary to achieve them, are serious business, and it takes time to make everything happen. That’s why most meetings are scheduled for 90 minutes and why I also offer multi-year structured consultation programs to work with students until the end of Year 12.
On behalf of my wife and family, we would like to thank you for your brilliant support and advice over the years as our children have navigated post school courses, possible careers, and opportunities for a GAP year in the UK. You should be very proud Adrian of what you have achieved at the college in your 10 years. You are highly respected in the community and many college graduates are appreciative of your skills and advice over the years.
Thank you so much for our session. It’s hard to put into words just how life-changing it has been for both my daughter and me. The experience was a joy for us both, and you quite rightly picked up on my enthusiasm for the incredible courses that are out there – thank you for bringing these opportunities to our awareness. We both feel that a fog has lifted. After the session my daughter radiated a lightness and shared positivity for her future that I have not seen in her for a very long time. Her session with you relieved so much anxiety, she now has a clear sense of direction and it truly feels like a turning point for her—and for us as a family.
From our very first meeting, Adrian took the time to really get to know me. He understood my strengths, interests, goals and tailored his advice accordingly to fit my individual needs. Thanks to his expert advice and unwavering support, I was able to not only find a university course to study that suits the skills I have but align with my passions and strengths as a person. — Charlie Lazzaro, Vice-Captain, The Geelong College, 2020
